I enjoyed your site very much. I was with Fox Co. 2nd Bn. 7th Marines from March-Aug.21,1968 when wounded. I was a corpsman and also very proud to have served. I’m looking for anyone who knew my Step-brother, Mark W. Bacher KIA 5-18-70. He was in the 25th Infantry at Tay Ninh. Thanks for a great page. Semper Fi- Doc Baker

I’m 27, and can’t even begin to relate to everything you went through. I’ve never really seen war. I was born in 1971. No one in my family ever went to war – my father finished the AirForce just before Vietnam began. I just wanted you to know that even people my age appreciate everything that you did for our country, and that your efforts will never be forgotten.

Hiya Dave; R-E-A-L-L-Y enjoyed your page! I’m also a vet (’69), and a pilot, father was an air force pilot who brought his work home! We owned a T-6 and a C-45-H! Learned to fly’em both (legally at 16)! Heheheheh Love your Tri-Pacer! She looks like a product of many years of TLC! Thanks for the great shots Sincerely; Michael T. 🙂 PS: Happy Veterans Day! . . . glad we made it.

While looking around for info on GSR’s,I stumbled upon your page. I’m in the national guard and work with the new radars for a mech. Inf. brigade. Its not often our MOS gets any recognition and was nice reading the tales of one who has gone before me. Thanks…(p.s.-Was the MOS designation back in the 60’s 96-romeo like it is today?)

Hello, Your page brings back some memories. I was with the 3\4 Cav and spent several months at a firebase in Go do hau (sp?) during the rainy season in 69. It was about a mile on the Cu Chi side of Go do hau (gdh), and had a cemetery next to it. Don’t think it was the one you were at however, as there were no hooches. Sometimes there would be some artillery there–I recall some 155’s with “The Dodge Boys” painted on the barrel. Used to pull guard duty at the bridge in gdh and visit with some navy that stayed on some barges near the bridge. Also, if my recollection is correct, was at fsb Crook briefly on a couple of occasions. Didn’t find the weather there unusual, as I’m from southeast Texas. Enjoyed your site. dr

Dear Mr.Stanfford, I read your story and i will like to share it with my class. I will be very grateful if got your blessings to do this. It’s for my history class and i have to do it on vietnam and your story could be my way of informing my classmates about your experiences. So, what i am asking is for your blessings to do so? kevin.

Hi my name is Randy Johnson, I would like to thank you for a very enjoyable website. My daughter and sat and looked at your great pictures and listened to your music it was great. The reason for me finding your site was I was looking at different tri-pacers and talking to people about the pluses and minuses of owning one. I seem to think I would prefer the clipper because of it having a stick instead of yokes could you take a minute and give me your opinion on the matter also what you think about a converted tri-pacer. Any comments would be greatly appreciated and again thanks for a great site Randy Johnson.

Have MUCH of same to trade. Thank you. (4th Inf Div 1969-70) Shot, out.

A great web site and a great story, well written that captures the essence of the Vietnam experience. I served in the 935th Medical Detachment (a psychiatric unit) in Long Binh in 1968. The fear, the bunkers, incoming, a year of conflicting emotions, R&R, and finally taking off and clearing 20,000 feet on the best flight any of us have or will ever take, but only to be followed up by a country in which we were rewarded with indifference and told not to put our Vietnam service on our resumes because it would probably be held against us in the job market – and we were the lucky ones. We put our lives together – survived and prospered. And, for you and your bride, congratulations on your 30th anniversary.

Dave: I stumbled across your website & enjoyed looking at your camping pics. Obviously, you like camping and taking pictures of your favorite spots. It occurred to me you might like to earn a little money for what you do. It seems I’m about always searching for good photos (like some of those you shot) that are scenic and yet illustrate an ideal RV camping experience. I need those pics for the front covers of our camping guides when they are updated. For example, just now I am completing research on our western edition of Camping on a Shoestring, a camping guidebook that lists only campgrounds with fees of $10 or less. We have a similar eastern edition; we have a book titled Camping With the Corps of Engineers (obviously, listing only Corps parks), and of course, our best-seller, Guide to Free Camping. Are you interested in seeing your pictures appear on a few book covers? We’re a small publishing company without a big budget, but we pay $100 for a photo that we can use as the focal point of one of our books. If you are, please let me know, either by e-mail or by phoning direct at 219-875-8618 (Elkhart, IN). Don

I am a 17 year old step daughter of a vetenam veteran named Joe Reames. I am doing a reasearch paper about the psychological effects of the war on the veterans. I chose this topic to help me in better understanding my stepfather as well as others. I have also always been sort of interested in the whole deal and what it was like. This web page has helped me a great deal and I want to give all my respect and gratitude to all of the vietnam veterans for putting their lives on the line so that I can have the life I do today.:) Sincerey, Cara Hobbs
