FSB Crook was pretty typical as fire support bases go. It was about 400 feet in diameter with a 3 or 4 foot high berm. Inside, there was one Howitzer Battery with six 105mm guns with about 10 soldiers assigned to each gun. In addition, there was a company of infantry with a strength somewhere between 120 and 200 soldiers. Outside the berm was a mine field, including Claymore mines and pressure sensitive mines, plus lots of razor wire.
